Amazing.
First... your pro tip: When hosting a server, apparently putting a password can monkey up things like a friend join, or a friend invite... so just don't put up a password. Instead, just kick people you don't want when they join.
Now.. as for tonight's action. I still haven't found a screenshot key, but next time I'll be sure to run xfire to capture some of the awesome.
WoW. Grinn and I duoed it again, and the action was intense. We replayed mission 1..... again.. but hopefully for the last time.
Mission 2, we were hoofing it around this moonlit fields and forest pre-dawn. And when I say moonlit, I mean... there were shadows left by the moon of the trees on the grass. It was gorgeous. This time around, I had a true sniper rifle, and I used it to great effect. We were deep into enemy territory, sneaking past some guards, and taking out others. Best moment may have been my first sniper kill. We lined up the poor schmoe, and Grinn says: 'take him' One shot, and he poofs in a cloud of red. His bud comes out from around the corner, and I take him too. With my scope I was able to see so much, and relay that info back to Grinn.
After that engagement, we crossed various terrain obstacles... the ditches.. the hills... the low lands. And the farmhouse.. WOW.. took out some defenders and then a HELI came in and started fucking with us!!! The ground was literally exploding around us, and the world was shaking. We ran for our lives and lost him in tree cover. From then on, we learned to lay prone when the search chopper came near.
We took out some SAM sites... only minutes before our choppers were due to arrive. We were constantly harried by a vastly superior force, and we just kept pressing on.
Eventually we were to reach a stopping point up on a mountaintop overlooking a whole valley. Down below, we could see a small base bombed by our friendly choppers. There were also enemy anti-aircraft vehicles on a far ridge near a bunker. It was breathtaking.
The next mission began with us pressing up a beach landing. This wasn't a saving private ryan meat grinder... but it was utterly amazing. Strikers were landing and unloading troops... we were tasked with keeping the area clear of anti tank infantry. When well aimed mortars started raining down, we had to clear a hill top of spotters. Next we pressed in on a village. Firefight after firefight, we took control of the town. But then the PLA counter-attack was incoming. Sadly we didn't survive, and we'll be seeing mission 3 again. But wow.. Last night was good. Tonight was nothing short of amazing. This is undoubtedly one of the best FPS games I've ever played.

Just wanted to add to that sniper shot kill moment: The reason I had to give the go command was because an attack helicopter was flying over the little crag we were hiding in. Wormy kept is eye on the target, and I was keeping a macro-eye on the overall situation. Once it was clear, it was "Take the shot"
In this game if you're discovered by the enemy, and if they have numbers (so far they almost always have) then you could die fast in a fire fight. Its not the guys in front of you that kill you, it's their friends you can't see that come from beneath the hill, etc. We had a few moments where we planned our targets and did a countdown to attack. 3...2....1... and we opened up. Proved valuable to taking out the most exposed targets before they knew what hit them. Felt like WWII all of a sudden, minus the silent hand gestures.
Loving this game right now. I could see how the single player and the general multiplayer might not be quite as impressive. But so far as a co-op game with your buddy: 10.
One last thing about the passwords on the games: We might be able to setup a password on the game, and then find it on the standard server list and join via that. I bet ya good money that method of entering the game will finally prompt you for a password, instead of automatically rejecting you.
Oh, right. The fact that it makes me want to play when I am specifically trying to avoid getting it (too many games). Well, at least you didn't have screenshots...that might have been agonizing.
So I say again... this game needs a demo! :)
Hopefully it'll be all awesome and stuff on xbox 360 too.
